In an interview with Racked journalist Cheryl Wischhover, Nigeria-born writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie admitted that even though she was mourning the US presidential election result, she still cares about makeup.
“I think America is at a strange place now. But I think women still need to know what damn moisturizer works in the winter,” said Adichie in a phone interview.
“As I mourn, and for me the election result is a case for mourning, I still want to know what moisturizer will keep my winter skin from being too dry.”
The 39-year-old writer was recently announced as a brand ambassador for UK beauty store Boots No. 7; “I wanted to be part of the message that women who like makeup also have important and serious things that they’re doing in their lives,” she said of the collaboration.
