A model of colour appeared in every runway show at New York Fashion Week 

During New York Fashion Week, which ran from February 6 – 16, 2017, every runway show featured a model of colour, according to a report by The Fashion Spot.

This is said to be the first time it’s ever happened.

The Fashion Spot examined 116 major New York shows — which included 2.700 runway appearances, and found that 31.5% of models were non-white.


Shows examined included Chocheng, which had one model of colour on the runway, Marchesa with four non-white models, Kanye West was praised for his diverse showcase of Yeezy Season 5, where 74% of the models were of colour.
